P90X Day 31 Back & Biceps + Ab Ripper X

PULL PULL PULL! That is what P90X Back and Biceps routine is all about! Working on the glamour muscles as Tony calls them with pull ups, curls and lots of weights! By the time I was done I could barely lift a glass of water to my mouth. I am going to feel this workout tomorrow for sure. I love this routine! After its all over you are covered in sweat, your back is twanging and your biceps are pumping! There is no doubt that the muscle is building!

Back & Biceps consist of 24 exercises. The cycle goes a little something like this:

Pull ups! Back exercise with weights, Curls, More Curls, and then you probably guessed it REPEAT!!! REPEAT!!! REPEAT!!!!!

I can do 2 full pull ups before I have to reach for the chair. I am working on form and adding a couple of negative reps at the end of each exercise. In routines where you are pulling weight toward the body (um hello P90X Back & Biceps) the negative rep is the action of moving the weight away from the body. Rumor has it that the negative action in weight lifting is just as important as the positive. If gives the body the opportunity to stress and focus the muscles used in the exercise. Do a couple of reps with a slow 5 – 8 second return to the starting position and you are sure to feel it. When it comes to pull ups I am trying to add 3 negative focused reps at the end of each exercise.

By the end of the workout I was lucky if I could control the movement for 2 seconds let alone 5! I feel fantastic though!

31 days of P90X down about 60 to go!

Yoga X tomorrow, which is actually becoming one of my favorite routines.
